Appointment & Clinic Policies

Cancellations or No-Shows

Parkway Animal Hospital requires a minimum of 24 hours’ notice prior to your appointment to cancel. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, however, the space is reserved for you and other people seeking medical care for their pets may be turned away if we are not given proper cancellation notice. Not showing up for your appointment with no notice is considered a cancellation. A cancellation fee, payable upon your next visit to our clinic, may be applied to your account.

In order to avoid the cancellation fee, we respectfully request you call us at least 24 hours before your appointment so that we may reschedule you accordingly and be able to give the open spot to other pets in need of medical care.

Late Arrivals

Clients are expected to arrive on time for their scheduled appointments. If you arrive late, your appointment may need to be rescheduled in order to respect the time of other clients who arrived as scheduled and are expecting to be seen promptly.

We ask that all clients treat staff with courtesy and respect when they communicate the need to reschedule. This policy is applied consistently across all appointments, and our team is not able to make exceptions.

Surgery Cancellations

Cancellations or rescheduling of surgical procedures of any type require 3 business day’s notice. If a surgery is cancelled without this notice, a $250 cancellation fee will be applied to your account and be payable upon your next visit. In addition, a non-refundable deposit of $250 will be required before the surgical procedure is rescheduled and your pet’s surgery will be rescheduled to the next available date.

Heartworm Screening

Pets must have a documented heartworm test from an accredited veterinary clinic within the past two years in order to be prescribed heartworm prevention.

If your pet was tested within the previous year, a signed waiver may be accepted in place of repeat testing. If no test has been completed within the past two years, a simple blood test is required before prevention can be prescribed.

In certain cases, a veterinarian may make an exception following an exam and consultation. Our team will review your pet’s medical history to ensure safe and appropriate recommendations are provided.

ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY

At Parkway Animal Hospital, we have a zero tolerance policy for verbal and physical abuse toward staff, clients, and pets.

The following behaviours will NOT be tolerated:

  • Yelling, screaming, and profanity.

  • Entitled or demanding behaviour.

  • Harassment and bullying, including online or through social media.

  • Threats or acts of violence.

  • Sexual harassment.

  • Disparagement or discrimination based on race, nationality, ethnicity, gender identity, sex, sexuality, disability, income, health status, age, family status, and religion.

Breach of this policy may result in permanent termination of our professional relationship with you, and denial of all future services at Parkwood Animal Hospital.
